General

General information about the store or our products

Do [we] accept Purchase Orders?

We do, but we strongly recommend the use of Purchase Orders ONLY for larger value orders.

As a small company, we have no dedicated finance staff member and purchase orders take up a significant amount of time to complete. As a result we apply an administrative fee and will review discounts available on a case by case basis, particularly for very low value orders.

This is an eCommerce site built on the tools that help automate pricing, order acceptance, payment and fraud prevention so anything that requires significant manual intervention will result in less desirable pricing and/or final cost to offset the cost of providing such a service. Thank-you for your understanding.

Prices in 3 decimal points?

Our store includes quantity discounts which, when shown in 2dp (2 decimal points) often fail to calculate properly for low value items such as standard/straight blunt needles. To counter this and make discounts (and currency exchange rate differences) clearer we decided to show unit prices in 3dp (3 decimal points). This allows differences to show far more clearly and allow a better understanding of how quantity affects order pricing.

Of course, when it comes to understanding the final totals and processing some confusion remains on the cart and checkout views. We have do convert the order Sub-totals and Totals on these pages to 2dp, to show the overall charge to be applied, but the store system doesn’t allow this for lines (eg: shipping cost) so it’s not perfect, but given the limitations it’s the best we can do at present.

Short version, you get better quantity discounts than we could offer with just 2dp rounding.

Discounts & Offers

Discounts

Our products are listed with discounts applied at quantity break points. The greater the quantity, the bigger the bulk discount.

Price breaks are indicated on applicable product pages and you can view the actual amount for your product/quantity on the Shopping Cart and Checkout screens.

Discounts are applied regardless of the viewed currency.

Bulk Pack Products

We have a number of “Bulk Pack” product listings which allow customers to order single packs of X units quickly and easily.

However, such packs have a static product price/discount. They do not apply higher discount price breaks when multiple packs are purchased (eg: 4 packs of 500 does not apply 2,000+ unit pricing)

So, if multiple pack quantities are needed (eg: 4x 500 => 2,000 units total ) we recommend ordering the appropriate quantity via the single unit listing, not the bulk pack listings.

Offers/Coupons

Additional discounts or offers may be available in rare instances where product(s) are being discontinued or B’Grade stock is available.

There are no introductory/first-time-buyer discounts or similar, instead all our customers get the same rates/price-breaks along with our high quality service and support.

Minimum Order Quantity and Samples

Minimum Order Quantities

Most products available on NeedlEZ.co.uk have no minimum order quantities (MOQ’s) and are all available in single items.

Samples:

Because we supply end-user and reseller businesses, we ask that customers order the necessary “sample” item(s) as normal then contact us about placing a larger order once they have determined product suitability.

Where appropriate a discount coupon will be provided to offset some or all of the initial “sample” cost for use with a future bulk order.

Stock availability, Back-orders

Stock Availability

While we endeavour to ensure the indicated stock levels are accurate there are some instances where orders overlap or stock counts have drifted. If an order is affected by a shortfall we will notify customers as soon as possible. Customers will then have the option to continue with their order or cancel and seek supplies elsewhere if appropriate.

Back-Orders

We stock a wide range of products and do our best to ensure our more popular ranges are maintained at suitable volumes. Some products and/or large orders may require additional stock or a larger quantity than we have immediately available. In such instances we will notify customers of our expected replenishment date and organise dispatch of part orders or make alternative arrangements as required.

As a rule we can usually fulfil back orders within 15 working days, but some orders (particularly bent-needle products) will require longer to process.

If in any doubt, please contact us before ordering to check availability and details of future availability.

Sterile, Clean products?

Sterile / Clean Products

While some of our products are sealed and sterilised during manufacture, our primary market is industrial, craft and non-sterile usage. As such we don’t provide products for sale on this website, with any guarantee, warranty or similar regarding their sterility, nor are we able to certify any product for use in a medical, cosmetic, food or clean lab environment.

Purchase orders based B2B queries are welcome where we can source specific product stock and relevant documentation from our manufacturer suppliers, in which case, please contact us with your specific requirements. In all other scenarios we would recommend purchasing through a supplier that caters specifically for medical/laboratory or similar markets and is able to provide the relevant documentation and assurances.

Sterilising Non-Sterile Products

We are aware that some customers have chosen our products to test and/or process using existing sterilisation processes (eg: Ethylene Oxide) to suit their specific requirements. While we understand that such treatment can potentially provide the necessary level of sterility required by some customers, we are unable to advise on suitability and/or compatibility with any of our products. If you wish to test the compatibility of any product with autoclaving equipment or similar, you will need to purchase a small selection of our products and carry out your own tests to ascertain suitability and/or compatibility.

Re-use, Recycling and Disposal

Re-Use, Recycling & Disposal

As our background has been in the use of syringes, needles, etc… in inkjet refilling applications we frequently clean and re-use the products for refilling purposes. However, re-use of our products must be based on a common sense approach.

ie: Does the product need to be absolutely clean and/or devoid of any previous material/chemical/etc… before use.

If the answer is “yes” then re-use is not suggested

Recycling and/or disposal of our products should be based on existing legislation and/or health & safety rules regarding usage of same and the chemicals/materials the products have been used with. For specific guidance you should refer to local resources for the appropriate rules and regulations in place for your country, state, area.

Legal to buy syringes or needles?

Legality of Purchase/Import

Legislation varies from country to country, state to state so it is your responsibility to check with the relevant authority(s) to ensure you can legally purchase and import (where appropriate) our products.

We cannot provide advice on this topic, nor can we accept responsibility for seizure, confiscation and/or rejection of an order based on those same rules/regulations.

Needles

Any information relating to needles, dispensing tips, etc...

Can I use your products on humans / animals

These products are sold primarily for use in industrial, craft, lab or similar scenarios, with inert materials.

These products are specifically NOT SUITABLE, nor SOLD AS SUITABLE, for human, animal or live tissue use.

As our products are predominantly BLUNT needles using them with live subjects would be incredibly painful. As such, not only do we not recommend, we strongly discourage ANY such usage.

Double Helix – What is it?

A double helix, on a needle, is the two thread mouldings that wind around the needle hub. These interact with a luer-lok/lock collar to create a firm grip on the needle when the needle is twisted into position on a syringe. Their design ensures a much stronger connection that would be incredibly difficult to remove without twisting off, compared to simple “tab” or wing style mouldings that can tend to be weaker and more prone to fail.

Most blunt needles from NeedlEZ are of the double helix type.

Are needles or syringes individually packed?

Almost all of our needles are packed together, loose and not individually packed.

The only exception to this are sterile needle items, where the needles have a protective cover and are packaged individually in blister packs.

Syringes are almost always individually packaged and would only be provided loose/in-bulk if they were clearly identified as such.

Luer Type/Compatibility

Luer Type/Compatibility

We get asked this quite a bit so here’s a quick illustrated explanation of what the difference is between Luer Lock vs’ Luer Slip (and a few other Luer related terms).

What is a “Luer”?

The Luer taper is a standardized system of small-scale fluid fittings used for making leak-free connections between a male-taper fitting and its mating female part on medical and laboratory instruments, including hypodermic syringe tips and needles or stopcocks and needles.

Ref: Wikipedia

Luers: Male vs’ Female?

First up, almost all syringes are a type of MALE luer (ie: they have a stickie out bit) and almost all needles, adapters, etc… are FEMALE (ie: they have a hole for the male bit to go in).

Lock vs’ Slip: Visual difference

Luer Lock syringes have a collar with an internal thread while Luer Slip syringes have no collar and just a smooth spiggot

Luer Lock vs' Luer Slip
Luer Lock Luer Slip

Luer Lock vs’ Luer Slip: Functional Difference

Luer Lock: Rotate needle into locking collar Luer Slip: Push needle straight on to the spiggot

Which Luer is Better?

Note: This is just a guide related to inkjet cartridge related tasks.
You may find you disagree with our recommendation and/or prefer the other luer type for specific tasks.

Luer Lock

Luer Slip

– Any tasks where the needle needs to be secure

– Any task involving sharp needles

– Cartridge purging/flushing
– Cartridge priming

The luer slip tip fits the fill hole on most refillable cartridges.

– Tasks involving multiple adapters for refilling on one ink (easier to changeover)

Other Luer Related Information

There are other sizes of luer, mostly related to the angle of the male luer but for the purpose of all OctoInkjet products (syringes, needles, adapters, etc..) all the syringes will fit all of our products and work equally well with both Luer Slip or Luer Lock types.
